Mark hates it when I call it that (scub scouts that is), but it's cute!
Benjamin got to participate in Day Camp for the first (and last) time in his life. It was a GREAT camp.
I got to go the first day and put the boys right to work setting up our ward's area. Those boys can move mountains (and picnic tables) when they put their shoulders to it!

Benjamin had lots of classes. This is after lunch. They had a demonstration of real falcons that are raised and trained on the Air Force Academy.

How about a picnic under a B52?!

Catapults were built by the Cubs. The boys had to carry the supplies. Good muscle-building exercises all! (FYI - Mark took this pic with his 'expensive' camera. All other photos are from my iPhone!)

The fire-building class was of course a HUGE hit. We got our fire first and biggest because we were the fire MASTERS!

The Webelos had to go on a 3 mile hike for one of their requirements. I got to lead and I think we probably did more of a 4 mile hike. Those boys never got tired! On the way back they kept giving me a flat tire (stepping on my heels) so I started running. Then we out-paced the rest of the Webelos (there were about 45 of them all total). So, while we were waiting there was some very good brush nearby... I told the boys to quickly hide and then taught them the art of ambush by pinecones! Yeee hah!
Of course, after the first ambush they just HAD to do it again. Luckily we were able to run a bit ahead and get in position. By the 3rd ambush the boys and leaders in the back were expecting us - they were also loaded with pinecones! (After the 1st ambush my front group of boys got MUCH larger - in anticipation of more action) What a firefight! The boys then wanted to ambush the camp when we returned, but I explained the rules of war: 1. You don't attack those younger than you. 2. You don't attack unarmed people. 3. You can't ambush people when you are moving and they are stationary.

It was a great camp.
Now Jordan is at camp and Casey will go to camp in July. Ahh, summer!

wow! the clarity of the *ahem* expensive camera is amazing! such defining colors, such intricate pixeling... i could tell that shot above all others was from a very high priced camera INDEED! *giggle*
Love the new do benjamin... and how did i know it was new (besides the fact that i am super psychic--do to my expensive camera analysis, but because buzz cuts don't last long!
Great post tracy! Hope the birthday was spectacular!!
and didn't you guys just go to w.va??
WHo knew there were rules for pinecone ambush. I say fight to the death -- and make sure you have more pinecones than the other people!
Manda - We didn't go to WV - no job means no traveling! But we still manage to have fun. :)
Denise - there must be rules with boys!! But that last rule is a good one. I'll add it to my manual. :)
