The Arkansas - in Colorado

Kelly is a wonderful resource! She suggested we go tubing this past Friday, so what is a sister to do? Say yes!

Most rivers in Colorado are NOT conducive to tubing. They are too turbulent and too cold. Most rafting trips require wetsuits! Kelly however knows of a river that is tubing worthy. The Arkansas. In Colorado!

So, life jackets rented, tubes purchased (thank you to George, who left 5 tubes in our new home!) we began our 50 minute drive south to Pueblo.

Since the great article that we read told us EXACTLY where to go, we didn't have to pay park entrance, but just 'put in' right above the bridge and away we went!

Well, the first away went the boat! The boys put it in, without taking note of the swiftness of the current. First Logan, then Johnpatrick went swimming after the boat. Notice was taken of how COLD the water was - but they were too far away to let anyone else know that tidbit of information. They commandeered the boat from the girls at the river bank.

Here you see Johnpatrick (on the left) and Logan (on the right) with tubes.

Then in went the girls. So cute. They were very helpful to each other and got in without incident. They were about 50 yards down the river by the time the rest of us started getting in. I thought it was so sweet how they held hands as they floated away. Sweet my foot. If you didn't attach yourself to each other you were swept away! Here are the girls, Kayla in the back and Casey in the front.

We decided that since the water was 'high' (which means FAST) that we would tie the boys to one of our tubes. Jordan, ever the protectived big brother volunteered to stay with them as well. Here are the boys.

Jordan, Benjamin and Cody (left to right). Doesn't Jordan look like Calvin!?!

We ended our 1 1/2 hour float at the Pueblo Nature Center and had a picnic lunch. Cody and Ben chased lizards and all in all we had a GREAT day. Next time you're visiting maybe we'll take you for a float too!
