October workings

Much has been happening in our corner of the world. I finally got a minute to update. It's a hodge-podge, but hey, it's something!

The apples came from the park behind our house. They are the Red Delicious variety and so yummy! But - they are small.
I asked the kids to take a picture to show how small they were. Ben's idea was to compare it to Jordan's head, below. :)

When you're a teen you often have moments of angst. Casey is no exception. Here are some 'self portraits' she took with time exposure in her room (with her camera). Does she look unhappy? Poor kid. Life would probably be easier if she had a mom that would commiserate with her instead of laugh at her. Does the pic look kinda like a Picasso?

Mark came home for a weekend and we went to work! We stained our deck and it looks beautiful! Here is Ben before we began. Didn't you know you needed a neckerchief to stain a deck?!

Here he is at the end of the day. All protective equipment has gone the way of all things Benjamin - that is no one knows! Probably still outside on the ground somewhere.

Here are Mark and Jordan hard at work sanding.

Casey is an artist. She is also a junk collector. Here are her favorite shoes. I am of the habit of throwing away things that need to be thrown away. These shoes fit that criteria (as Jordan pointed out as I was tossing one of his favorite shirts). If you can't see, parts of the fabric has separated from the base and she has stitched stuff on them. Cool huh! Not.

After much argument about the shoes, and the fact that they indeed needed to join the refuse at the city dump - I sealed their fate. There was now no fear that my dear daughter would become a dumpster diver.

More handsome guys sanding.

Enjoy what fall you have left. These are trees in our neighborhood who now have NO leaves on them. Amazing what wind and 2 weeks can do! Happy Autumn!

I am so glad you gave those shoes a NO. I'm all for saving money, but...
