Skills

So my kids are learning new skills these days.

A few weeks ago Jordan starting asking me about investing. I explained as best I could with my limited knowledge. Soon he was on the phone with USAA (our bank) asking them questions. Then he spoke to another person and asked more questions. The outcome of his conversation? Jordan is now an investor in mutual funds! With his lawn mowing job he will invest monthly. We are surprised and proud of him for planning for his future!

Casey is exploring new avenues as well. Check out her new skills in the video below.

At Summer Heat (the fire camp she is attending this week) the team that dressed the fastest got to eat lunch first. Funny to see how different gropus of people prepare (or don't). The firefighters (all female) "prepared" lunch by setting loaves of bread (still wrapped) with package of luncheon meat (unopened) on the table. As a side dish jars of pickles (unopened) were beside them. It was a "I'm not your mom - make your own sandwich" experience. I love it!

I contrast this lunch with a typical church (RS) lunch. The sandwiches would have all be premade, with lettuce, and some veg and gluten-free options. These would have been arranged prettily on several trays with a complimentary table cloth, napkins and plates. Pickles would have joined other fresh veggies arranged on several trays with at least 3 different dips.

Welcome my dear daughter, to the world of women who fight fires! You manage life differently when instead of cleaning a home you are instead concerned with pulling people out of it whilst burning.

And of course, little brothers must always try out new things. Even during dinner time. :)

Good job with the Mutual Funds. It's amazing how many "adults" don't any!
