Update on house selling

We had our first showing of the house the first day on the market. We were thrilled! We got feedback the following day. This is what they had to say:

"The home sounded great on paper but walking through it was something else entirely. They lost count at 7 different types of carpeting/flooring. The finish work in the basement is not terrific. Will not work for these buyers, there was no interest. Thank you for letting us show, though."

My first thought was, "What?! They didn't think my house was beautiful?! My friends said it was! I thought it was! Then my next thought was - do I have to replace all the carpet in my 4,000 sq. ft house???!!! Then my next thought was -Wait a minute! if I have to replace all the carpet in my house there is NO WAY I would put the same carpet all through the house! And then I realized they were looking for a NEW home. With the same cheap contractor carpet throughout. Oh well.

Then I read the comment again. This in particular made me giggle. The finish work in the basement is not terrific. Really!!?? The finish work in the basement is AWFUL! There are half inch dents in the celing where they didn't tape, the walls have waves in them. It's pretty darn bad. And they said "it's not terrific." LOL. Okay, I'll agree and pass on these buyers. Clearly we see things differently.

A day or so after this blow to the ego my realtor called. Another buyer wanted to book a showing on May 16th at 10am. They were coming in from Texas. Cool. So - we kept the house show ready for 2 weeks, then REALLY cleaned in preparation for today's showing.

I got up early and made bread. Yes I did. Fresh bread and an amazing house? Who could resist that? That bread was featured in the pictures after all. It's famous. I'm sure that's what was the final catalyst in their wanting to see my home.

The person arrived and met my realtor at 10:30 this morning. She didn't even go inside. The house didn't back to an open space. The end.

Really? REally? Really? Did this person NOT know about the internet? That there were PICTURES online not only of the house - but of the neighborhood?! Sometimes they're called arial views, other sites call them bird's eye views. You can also go to Google maps and see the house, AND neighborhood. This person had apparently booked 30, yes 30 home to see. And yet - hadn't taken the time to look at a map to see if we backed to an open space. (FYI, over half our cul de sac backs to an open space, we are not one of the lucky few - but we can WALK ACROSS the cul de sac to it. :) )

Oh well, another one bites the dust. Who knew you could learn of such interesting characters when selling a home? Stay tuned for more encounters.

Meanwhile, I have 5 loaves of bread if anyone's hungry. :)

Viewer's comments are devastating. Especially when you have a contract and they start knit picking on the "i want this done before I buy" sheet.

Yikes! Who says stuff like that (and who passes along those junky comments)?

They don't deserve your awesome house!
