Middle School!

My how time flies!! My youngest is now a middle-schooler! Ben was so excited to start middle school. In elementary school they learned how to do combinations and that was his main drive and excitement - he got a locker with a combination lock!

The school had an open house for the new 6th graders. We printed off his schedule, visited all the classrooms, color-coded the schedule to the hallways and away we went to the locker! He did pretty darn good - that kid. Only 2 tries and it was open. Guess that practice helped!

I wanted to demonstrate just how large his locker was. Pretty impressive! In the high schools the kids have to share a locker, there are so few. But not Ben! He has one all to his lonesome.

Really Mom! Must I get in the locker? Wait - there's a hand on the door...

And the big brother demonstrates another middle school technique...!!!

After the open house Ben wanted to immediately go get his school supplies to put them in his locker. Right then. Alas, we needed to wait a bit. Then when we finally did gather his supplies (I love school supply shopping btw. I gave the kids their list, then had them check and compare prices. They did a GREAT job!) he again, wanted to immediately go to school. He was even willing to walk (with Jordan of course!) to school to load them in. 5 miles was a bit much to ask of your brother though, so we all went the next day. Here is the now stocked locker of awesomeness.

Middle school turned out a little more stressful that I think Benjamin planned. A few rounds of fever blisters, getting used to a schedule, turning in assignments, and realizing that when a teacher tells you to do something- you'll probably have to do it- and turn it in sometime; and Ben is finally showing some success skills at middle school. Go get 'em Ben! We know you can do it!
