Life is never dull in the Friend home. As I sit here listening to Michael Jackson, Bob Dillon and the Who, while the kids do the Saturday cleaning I thought I would update you on our happenings.
Guess what? Marcus got an awesome laptop. He asked this question of unsupposing people for 2 weeks as he waited for it to be built by Dell. The day of it's delivery was frought with an anxious 20-year-old. Here is his face when the FedEx truck pulled up finally at 5pm.
This is my tool set for my most recent handywoman project - putting in a new garbage disposal. I'm pretty proud of myself. It wasn't easy, but I did it. Boy am I glad for the internet and video instruction and smart Lowe's guys!
Here is Marcus, signing for his laptop. What a momentous occasion! Thanks to friends for help and direction in his first computer purchase. It has a touch screen, capabilities to edit and create movies and music and the coolest facial recognition feature for login. Very cool.
He got a little confused and irritated when the boys (Ben and Jordan) bombarded him as soon as he walked in the door with it. But - here he is, with most of a smile. :)
After spending LOTS of time setting it up and checking out it's cool features he needed a nap. I thought this was a cute picture - to see both of them napping at the same window. There's a sun glare, but Frosty is behind the couch - sun-napping.
No, tomatoes are not new, but I couldn't grow them in Malaysia! Here is my first crop of tomatoes in oh, 10 years!! I'm so excited to eat them!
(At this time frost is soon upon us and my tomatoes have given us a bounteous crop this summer. What a wonderful occasion to have tomatoes from my own garden!)
Restaurant Review:Five Guys
With my ovens out of service we have had to find something to replace our traditional pizza night. This week I wanted to try Five Guys. Here's our review.
Ben was amazed at the "small" burger. It was pretty big - then again, the added toppings add to the size.
Casey got the hot dog (ever the non-conformist!) Funny, they cut it in half and fried it! She said it was good. The glasses you ask? She thinks they look cool. Remember when only 1-2 kids in your class at school had glasses, and you though they were nerds? Nowadays it's cool to have glasses. So much so you can buy them at the stores with plastic lenses!
Jordan demonstrates a 'full-size' burger. He gives it a two-fingers up. x2. :)
We ordered 3 fries for the 5 of us. The large bag next to Jordan has 2 orders in it. It was filled within 3 inches of the top. The smaller bag was 1 order of spiced/cajun-like fries. It was also very full. Note to self and friends. If there are at least 2 in your party 1 order of fries will be PLENTY! We couldn't eat the 3 orders between the 5 of us. But - the fries were not cooked all the way. They were kinda raw. :( I know, I know, they are cut fresh, but really, raw? Come on. Cook them all the way through, please!
Marcus was satisified with his purchase. :)
More comments: The buns were soggy, and we got them as soon as they assembled them. The flavor was good, but with the half-raw fries, the soggy buns, and $40+ for 4 burgers, 3 fries a few drinks and a hot dog, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. Sorry Guys.
Also, that night at about 11pm the kids looked at me over a Mario game and said, "I want pizza." I guess it's just in their DNA now. Must have pizza on Friday night! So off we raced to Little Caesar's. It had to be cheap - I paid for burgers - Casey and Jordan paid for pizza - also known as 2nd dinner. :)
Disclaimer: This post was originally put together about 2 months ago. Alas life has been busy and I finally finished it now. Enjoy!

We have Pizza on Friday night too! Except that ours is real Italian, delicious yumminess! Don't be jealous.
Jeremy loves that place, but the prices are insane. I'm sure you could recreate it much better at your house!
