Touche!

Not much exciting stuff happened this week, I thought I'd share with you one of our old adventures. Fencing! We went to a local studio that teaches fencing to check it out. It looked pretty interesting during the Olympics what's more, it's real swords! Plus our guys (and gal) are pretty good at grunting so maybe we'd like it!

Jordan looks pretty macho in his get up. If you notice, in his left hand is something attached to a wire, it's called a "body cord". When they did their practice this wire was hooked up to more wires in the ceiling, It kept score every time a blade touched their jacket.

Benjamin is sporting the mask and the rest of the complete get up. Looks cool huh!

Notice Marcus is lame. I mean, he is wearing a Plastron, getting ready to put on the Lamé. That's the part of the shirt that can detect when a blade touches it.
The Plastron is extra padding to protect under the arm.

Casey is our 'weakness finder'. She found a weakness, in that if they boys don't have a sword or 'epee' she can still smack them around. Especially since her arms are longer than theirs.

Last, the "body cord" can also be used in spiderman-like fashion. This is especially useful when combating evil sisters.

Many thanks to Wikipedia and http://www.synec-doc.be/escrime/dico/engl.htm for helping me learn the terms of the cool equipment.

The kids are finding new things to do with the bars of the tramp. I had to share with them my childhood adventures with bars first. They were amazed you could have fun with it without the center! But - they are learning new things now every day!
