St. Patrick's Day

Most of you are now familiar with Frosty, our greyhound. We first learned of the greyhound association while at the city's Christmas parade. Twice a year they march in a parade - Christmas and St. Patrick's Day. We were excited to be able to participate in the St. Patty's Day parade with our new family member! Frosty, on the other hand couldn't have cared more. We found a perfect sweater for him at a thrift shop, modified it and away we went!

Benjamin and Mark walked him in the parade, along with the other 43 hounds.
Ben even got a new (lucky) shirt out of the deal!

It was a beautiful day, but a bit chilly. Ben tried using the other dogs as a wind blocker.

Frosty must have been a little excited as he never laid down like these other dogs. (He lays around the house for about 85% of the time!) Ben on the other hand thought it was a good idea to rest. We had to gather at 11:15am but didn't start marching until about 1:15pm. That's what happens when you're at the end of the parade. Lessson Learned!

We saw a giant burrito. Mmmm. Anyone hungry? Need gas?

Guys marching in skirts. (Endemic to any Irish gathering I've heard.)

Big wheels.

Chicken man. (That's Irish, right?)

SMACK!
Green one. No punch backs!

A Marine full of hot air. (Are there any other kinds?)

Old guys with guns.

More, cute, hounds. (A tribute to our visiting friends and their famous Biskers!)

Young guys with guns. (Advantage - besides a weapon - no fear of getting pinched!)

Jumping guys. (Modern-day leprechauns?)

Waving is hard work.

But we made our way through it and at about 2:15 we finished our first (of many hopeful) parades!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
