Happy Birthday Marcus!!

Happy Birthday to Marcus!!
What a handsome 19!

My manly men share their homemade angelfood cake and strawberries. Yes, that is what Marcus requested. He wanted to try something different. My adventurer! Mark made the cake - from scratch! It was yummy.

This is Benjamin every school morning. He gets up early with the high-schoolers, then 'waits' for his bus to come 20 minutes later. Sometimes Calvin and Hobbes manage to keep him awake, but most times not. So he usually reads it on the sly during family scripture reading. : )

I got new shoes for this course I'm taking. (I get to dress up in business clothes!) Jordan thought the box was hilarious, or suggestive, or both. You decide. The shoes are comfy though!
For a boring update here's what we are up to:
  • Mark is applying for jobs and working and reworking his resume according to the posting. He is also making all the arrangements for the move. It looks like we will stay at the Ritz Carlton for 2 weeks prior to leaving. Sweet!!
  • I am finishing my last 2 courses for my Emergency Management and Management Studies degrees. Woot!! I'm taking a course to be a certified Business Continuity Planner this week. I'm making and selling bread to use up our 6 5-gallon buckets of wheat we don't want to haul back to the States. I'm planning a Youth Conference for 160+ youth in June. There's something else, but I can't remember at the moment...
  • Marcus just finished his IB theater project. Woot! He is taking an intense Shakespeare acting class, 4 times a week, 17 hours a week with the culmination this weekend of 4 performances. He was cast as Hamlet!
  • Casey is developing her awesome black and white film photos from our Vietnam trip. She is tutoring a boy from church a few times a week. She just finished the school yearbook. She is playing catcher on the JV softball team and recently lost her voice after a really bad game. It's almost back now, but it was pretty funny for a few days.
  • Jordan has brought up his Spanish from a D- to a B! We are soooo proud of him. He is getting to be quite the chef. Last night he made Lamb and White Bean Stew entirely on his own! He is also Ben's voice coach for a job.
  • Ben is currently on his first campout. And his first sleepover without family. It's a big night tonight. Ben just finished soccer and is starting baseball. He played a 5-aside tournament at the French school and learned that Europeans body-check when they play soccer! He also got a job doing the voice for an English teaching software program. Jordan previously had the job, but his voice is not young enough now.

My apologies for not posting more. Life - need I say more?

(I hope you all have had a chance to view our Vietnam photos on my Facebook!!)

Wow, Marcus already 19. Time is just flying by. Happy Birthday Marcus even though you may not remember me. Isn't it awesome that your parents have shown you some great parts of the world while living abroad.

Greetings, Pieter
